Extra Credit Project: Animation Programming with Alice

Complete the handout labelled "Appendix".

Download "Alice First World" and "Alice Dancing Bee World" from the bottom of https://emunix.emich.edu/~evett/COSC101/index.html. You will need to use these worlds below.

On pg. 314, you should print the page. To do this, first open a blank document in Word and put your name at the top. Now go back to Alice. To capture a portion of the desktop, press Command-Control-Shift-4. I.e., hold down the command (Apple) key, the control key, and the shift key simultaneously, then hit the '4'. A cross-hair cursor will appear and you can click and drag to select the area you wish to capture. When you release the mouse button, the screen shot will be automatically saved to your clipboard. Now paste the image into your Word document. Add a suitable caption to the image. Save the Word document (call it "Alice Project". (You will attach it to this document when you have finished.)

On pg. 323, you should call the TA to initial here (see the snowmen face-off): ____________(4)

On pg. 329, you should add an image of the frog sticking its tongue out to your Word document. ____________(4)

Complete "Defending Nap Time".

Use the Help menu in Alice to select "Tutorial". Complete the tutorial labelled "Defending Nap Time".

Add an image of the bunny standing on the crushed phone to your Word document. ____________(4)

Build your own simple animation

Create a simple animation of two people moving toward each other. When they meet, they should turn away from each other and move back to their original positions (including turning to face each other again). You may choose any terrain or people objects that you want. You'll have to be careful in how you position the people and the camera so that you can see the the whole animation once you click on "Play". You should use the "Do Together" action.
